This 19th-century stable has modern rooms tucked into the original rustic spaces. It's by the canal path and has the Dunham Massey estate nearby.
Hempfield Stables first appears on maps in 1829. It sits in its own walled garden in lovely countryside by the canal path, close enough to the vibrant city of Manchester. It has been creatively restored and is now a quirky, comfortable holiday cottage with lots of personality and plenty of outdoor space. You’ll find some of the ground-floor rooms set within the original horses’ stalls, featuring wood panelling, exposed brick and limestone floors. Upstairs, the bedrooms are in soft, soothing colours, with pretty wallpapers and fabrics.
You’ll have free entry to National Trust places during your stay, including the Dunham Massey estate. This 300-acre, walled estate has a 17th-century Georgian house filled with treasures as its centrepiece, an ancient deer park and a garden for all seasons. There are lots of roaming paths to follow, leafy avenues and wide vistas. Tatton Park is not far away.
