Asset Opening time House 11:00 - 15:00 Garden 10:30 - 16:00 Tea-room 10:30 - 16:00 Please note that Peckover Gardens are open from Thursday to Monday each week from 10.30am to 4pm with last entry at 3:30pm. We are closed on a Tuesday and a Wednesday. The House is open 11am - 3pm, with last admission at 2.30pm. Last orders in the Reed Barn tea-room are 15 minutes before closing.

Coffee shop
Located in the atmospheric 17th-century thatched Reed Barn, our tea-room serves hot and cold drinks alongside cakes and light bites and is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 10:30am to 4pm and Mondays 12pm until 4pm with last orders at 3:45pm.

Steps/uneven terrain
There is no step free access for entrance into the house. There is some uneven terrain to access the garden and a step in the garden means that an alternative route needs to be taken.

A wheelchair is available for use in the house on the ground floor and in the garden. Pre-booking is advised due to limited availability.

Parking: free in town, nearest is Chapel Road (not National Trust), 270 yards. From the car park, follow the brown or black tourist signs to Peckover House.

On foot
from Chapel Road car park walk up passageway through Exchange Square and turn right by the river. This way, you get to walk down one of the finest Georgian streetscapes in the country.

Highlights
House
A classic Georgian merchant's townhouse, built in 1722. Home to the Peckover family for 150 years.
The Banking Hall
Although the Banking Hall was partially demolished in the 1870s, some remains above ground so you can appreciate its former scale and layout. The surviving sections now contain an exhibition space relating to the history of the Peckovers banking business.
Gardens
A stunning Victorian-style walled garden, known for its varieties of roses and a beautiful orangery housing ancient orange trees. Entry to the garden is free throughout the opening season.
Eat & drink
Located in the atmospheric 17th-century thatched Reed Barn in the garden, our tea-room is open seasonally serving hot and cold drinks, cakes and light bites.
Second-hand bookshop and plant sales
Bookshop stocked full of pre-loved books. Plants grown at Peckover for sale.
Damsons
Every Tuesday and Wednesday, the Damsons Dementia Group meet in the Reed Barn at Peckover. Sessions run from 10am to 12pm and from 1pm to 3pm.
Holiday Cottages
Stay in the stylish Georgian Wainman House, or in one of two cosy converted coach houses. You'll also have a key to the door that leads from the courtyard into Peckover's garden so you can explore the stunning grounds when the other visitors have left for the day.

Local artist David Peter Housden is exhibiting his artwork for the first time in over 40 years at Peckover House from 7 March to 3 November
About Peckover House and Garden
Peckover House is a secret gem, an oasis hidden away in an urban environment. A classic Georgian merchant's town house, it was lived in by the Peckover family for 150 years.
The Peckovers were staunch Quakers, which meant they had a very simple lifestyle - yet at the same time they ran a successful private bank. Both facets of their life can be seen as you explore the house and as you wander the gardens.
The gardens themselves are outstanding - 0.8 hectares (2 acres) of sensory delight, complete with orangery, summer-houses, croquet lawn and rose garden with a varitety of species of rose.

The Damsons group at Peckover
Since opening in July 2022, the Damsons community group has been a permanent resident of the Reed Barn at Peckover House and Gardens. Initially meeting twice, a week on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, the group was created for people living with dementia and their loved ones and offers a calm and relaxing space for people to socialise with those in a similar situation, gather information and seek advice. Following the success of the last two years, we are delighted to be able to offer two further sessions on a Tuesday and a Wednesday morning too.
