Car park
During wet weather the grass overflow has to close and cars park on hard standing. We then usually need several days of warm weather to dry the overflow out before reopening it.

Dogs allowed
On a lead at all times, not allowed in the house, shop, servery or first floor of tearoom or the play area off the Lime Avenue. You can now take your dog into the ground-floor seating area of the Brewhouse tea-room. We suggest you have min two people in your group so one can sit with the dog while the other orders. Assistance dogs welcome across the site.

Please be aware of deep water by the main bridge. Paths in the grounds are uneven at times. Woodland paths are difficult to navigate due to tree roots. Accessible toilets are located at the tea-room which is 1,200m from the car park.

Steps/uneven terrain
Access to first floor in the house is via a staircase only and this has no handrail. In the woods the paths have tree roots coming across them in places and can get very muddy.

By road
Four miles north of Basingstoke between Bramley and Sherborne St John. Entrance to visitor car park is on Morgaston Road. what3words: pizzeria.person.gone
Parking: Parking is free. There is a 1/3 mile walk between visitor reception and the house. Blue badge parking is available. All parking is on hard standing.
Sat Nav: Will not take you to the main car park, instead follow National Trust brown signs and reach the visitor car park off Morgaston Road.
By train
Basingstoke 4 miles - taxi rank available outside of train station. Bramley 2½ miles - requires a walk of 2½ miles from this station. Note: Vyne Road has no foot paths.
By bus

26 October-3 November: Explore the ground-floor of the house and locate ten mysterious pumpkins aglow with magic. Inspired by the jack-o'-lantern, in the gardens, have a go at pumpkin patch bean bag and ring toss as well as noughts & crosses. House open 11am-3pm, gardens 10am-5pm last entry 4pm. £2 per trail sheet and prize. Normal admission applies.
Wonderland Christmas at The Vyne
20 November to 5 January: Lose yourself in Lewis Carroll's Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking-Glass. In the gardens, look out for quirky displays such as the Queen of Hearts’ army. On the ground floor of the house, sparkling trees illuminate whimsical scenes from 'Looking-Glass' such as a giant chess board. Collecting your £2 trail sheet from Visitor Reception, enjoy nonsensical Alice-themed challenges before collecting your prize. House open 11am-3pm, gardens 10am-4pm. Closed 24 & 25 December.

Wednesdays & Saturdays 31 March – 2 November, 2.30-3.30pm. Enjoy a 1-hour tour of the house and uncover an honest account of the family’s interactions with the celebrated Regency author.
About The Vyne
Once an important Tudor palace, this atmospheric mansion has some illustrious connections, from Henry VIII to Jane Austen. Outside, acres of wildlife-rich gardens, meadows and woods create a wonderful space for relaxation and exploration, while the natural play space gives children freedom to let their imaginations take them on fantasy adventures. Sweeping lawns offer lakeside picnicking, and a short stroll reveals a cosy bird hide overlooking the water meadows.

Rare stained glass returns to Gothic 'tomb' at The Vyne
Some of the rarest surviving 18th-century stained glass in the care of the National Trust has been fitted with environmental protective glazing. Known as ‘isothermic glazing’, this will protect it from the ravages of weathering intensified by the impact of increasing rainfall and heat from the sun.
