Sitting in parkland on the edge of the Chilterns, this stunning Grade 1 listed hotel and spa is part-Jacobean mansion and part-Georgian house.
Although only 40 miles north west of London, Hartwell feels a million miles away from the city, surrounded by 90 acres of stunning parkland in rural Buckinghamshire - it's the perfect country house hotel. Stay in an individually-designed room, relax in the spa (housed in a former orangery) or enjoy a delicious meal in the two AA Rosette restaurant.
Although we're not imagining you'll want to set up court here like the exiled King of France, Louis XVIII, who lived here for five years, you'll easily fill your time at Hartwell with the finer things in life. With rooms filled with antique furniture and paintings, you'll really get the feel of a grand country retreat. Food lovers can brunch in the Hartwell café overlooking the pool, or take afternoon tea in the historic drawing rooms, then sit down to dinner in the AA Rosette restaurant. Add that to the large pool, sublime sauna, steam room, spa bath, tennis courts, gym and fishing lakes in the glorious landscaped gardens and parkland, and you might never want to leave.
But if you can bear to leave the tranquility and calm, then with Oxford, the Chiltern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and London on your doorstep, and attractions like Silverstone, the Harry Potter Studios, Waddesdon manor and Bicester Village nearby, you'll find Hartwell is perfectly placed for exploring the heart of England.
Hartwell House also provides executive services for corporate and business hire, with four purpose-built meeting rooms, multi-device wifi and designated parking meaning that conferences, meetings and seminars can all take place hassle-free, and against the beautiful backdrop of the Hartwell parkland. Delegates have the spa on site to unwind after a day of work too. Choose from a variety of light and bright meeting rooms giving complete flexibility over delegate numbers in a converted 18th century coach house next to the main house.
The gorgeous house and its history wrapped in the beautiful green parkland make Hartwell a magnificent setting for a wedding, and there are a number of packages to choose from, whether you're planning an intimate wedding party, a large wedding breakfast or a huge get-together in a marquee on the lawn. Whatever your preferred style and size of wedding, you and your guests are guaranteed to enjoy award-winning food, excellent wines and the Grade I listed house itself is a particularly special backdrop for creating lasting memories of the day.
