There are designated accessible spaces for vehicles in the car park. Ramp available to access the house. Wheelchairs available for the house and gardens on a first-come, first-served basis. Grounds - partly accessible, slopes, some steps, terraces. Accessible route. There are a few steep slopes in the gardens, however many of the paths are level and provide stunning views over the Aylesbury Vale.

Seating available
Seating is available at regular intervals throughout the Gardens. Outdoor and some indoor seating is available at the Pavilion Tea Room.

The Gardens include stepped areas as well as uneven gravel paths, grass pathways, steep slopes and are hilly in places.

Transfer available
There is an approx. 400m walk from the car park to the House. A volunteer-led shuttle buggy service is available most days if you require assistance in getting to and from the House and Gardens entrance. Please ask a member of staff on arrival to make use of the buggy service.
Level access/terrain
The Gardens include uneven gravel paths, grass pathways, steep slopes and are hilly in places.

Highlights
House
Half-timbered house originating from 1606, transformed by the Rothschilds in the late 19th century. Your self-guided tour leads through five ground-floor rooms where you can find our knowledgeable House volunteers to answer your questions and point out some of the House’s more hidden features. Filled with the renowned Ascott Collection, they feature everything from 17th-century paintings and 18th-century furniture, to rare Chinese ceramics.
Gardens
Mellow, modern spaces sit amid grand designs. In the contemporary Lynn Garden, landscaped circles meet moated islands and infinity pools. Find a peaceful seat among the flowers and enjoy the moving water and busy bees in the planted beds. Meanwhile in the lower part of the Gardens, the jagged Cornish slates of the Ascott Circle add texture and a burst of modern art.You can stroll along the 100-yard Madeira Walk beside borders of delphiniums and old roses – a riot of mauve, lilac and blue – or explore the leafy fern garden and the fragrant Scented Walk. In spring you can wander among apparently endless sweeps of glorious daffodils. In summer watch carp glide in the Lily Pond while bright blue dragon flies buzz by.
Spotlight events
Easter Egg Trail at Ascott
This Easter, there’s a festival feel with lots of colour and bunting as the backdrop for some old-fashioned family fun. Along the Easter Egg Hunt, activity stations include Springtime Simon Says, giant marbles and welly wanging. The trail takes place from 29 April to 14 April 10am - 4pm. Normal admission plus £3 per trail, includes a chocolate egg, or a vegan ‘Free-From’ chocolate egg, both made using cocoa from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. Booking required.

About Ascott
Ascott House presents as an ‘Old English’ manor house of black and white half timber, with red –tiled roofs and shafted brick chimneystacks. Its core is an old farmhouse thought to date from 1606.The original farmhouse has undergone many changes since being acquired by the Rothschild family in 1873. Ascott houses an exceptional collection of paintings, fine furniture and superb porcelain. The extensive gardens, are an attractive mix of the formal and natural with specimen trees, shrubs and beautiful herbaceous borders.
