Used as a filming location for both Wolf Hall and Poldark, and with a history stretching back to 1185, Horton Court is a truly spectacular setting for a special getaway. The beautiful Roman city of Bath is on your doorstep as well as the rest of the glorious Cotswolds.

With its incredible sense of history, this recently-restored ancient manor house is perfect for groups celebrating an occasion or exploring the area. Sitting in the small countryside village of Horton, next to the church, the house is surrounded by an open undulating garden, with some low level walls and uneven steps, and overlooks mature woodland. The garden has a beautiful lake set within the grounds, which isn’t enclosed, please be aware if you have children in your party. Inside, the recent renovation project is evident everywhere you look, like the glorious panelling and Pastiche ceiling in the formal sitting and dining room. Pause to enjoy the full length floor to ceiling windows overlooking the gardens or move through to the garden room. The large homely kitchen with its bespoke units also has a dining table big enough for everyone, perfect for lazy breakfasts together. Upstairs there are five bedrooms, sleeping up to ten people and with four bathrooms, you’ll be able to imagine life as lord of the manor.

If you can bear to tear yourself away from the grandeur of the house, you’ll find yourselves less than 15 miles from the bustling city of Bath, and its neighbour, the vibrant and cosmopolitan Bristol, perfect for a stroll round the harbourside on a sunny day, or nipping up to elegant Clifton for a lunch overlooking Brunel’s famous suspension bridge. You’re also on the western edge of the beautiful Cotswolds, so there’s a myriad of charming honey-coloured towns, villages and countryside to explore; from Tetbury to Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, Bourton on the Water and Burford.

When you stay at Horton Court, you’ll experience first-hand the results of the £2m restoration work that has breathed new life into the building, bringing back centuries-old ceilings and wood panelling and you’ll also be a part of its future – funds from your holiday go back into looking after places like this for everyone. And if you’re keen to see other grand houses, then head to nearby National Trust properties Dyrham Park, Newark Park and Tyntesfield before returning to your own manor in the evening.

Ground floor layout

Entrance hall, formal dining area and sitting room, snug, large kitchen, a utility room and cloakroom.

First floor layout

A master bedroom suite with 6ft double bed, dressing room and en-suite bathroom. One twin bedroom. One king-size bedroom. Two further bedrooms each with super king-size beds (each can be a twin on request) one with en-suite bathroom and one with en-suite shower room. A further family bathroom.

Heating: Gas central heating throughout the cottage. There is a log burner in the sitting room, which will be laid for you on arrival.

Induction Hob: Guests with a pacemaker should note that there is an induction hob in this cottage.

Parking: There is parking available for up to eight cars at the front of the house.

Garden: There is a large, undulating open garden with outdoor seating. There are some low level walls and uneven steps to be aware of. The lake set within the grounds, isn’t enclosed, please be aware if you have children in your party.

WIFI: We are pleased to provide free WiFi at this cottage which is supported by BT. Please note that intermittent connection problems can sometimes occur and should not be relied upon.

Please note: The house is next to a church that is still in service.

Offers: Guests will benefit from a late Sunday checkout of 4pm at this cottage.
