As a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Lake District is a precious landscape. However, its popularity with visitors leads to severe erosion on the fells. Donate today and maintain this place of natural beauty for future generations to enjoy.

The impacts of footfall, extreme weather events and climate change are causing damage to the thin mountain soils, which mean that 630km of paths will need to be repaired within the next 10 years. Your support can help us raise £500,000 to care for the mountain paths and landscape in the Lake District and protect this historic landscape for future generations.

How your money helps

Four teams of highly skilled National Trust upland rangers work on the fells in all weather, building sustainable paths and re-seeding bare soils. Over 120 Fix the Fells ‘lengthsmen’ support the upland rangers on the fells, collectively giving more than 2,000 days of their time each year.

Thanks to your donations, over 200 paths have been repaired already.
