Forget the tent next time you go away and stay in this rustic stone bothy with views over nearby Dinas Emrys.
Nestled in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia), this restored stone building is surrounded by two private meadows joined by a footbridge over a small river. Beudy’r Gelli Bothy, a simple but beautiful dwelling that comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests, is a fun alternative to camping.
With nature’s delights at every turn, you’ll need to pack your boots rather than your gadgets. Discover the diverse landscapes that are right on your doorstep. From towering mountain peaks to stunning natural lakes and sandy stretches of coastline, there are many picturesque walks for beginner strolls and advanced hikes. There is a lovely walk up Dinas Emrys from outside the bothy which is steeped in legend.
After a long day of exploring, take in the sounds of rustling trees and birdsong or look up at the dark evening sky scattered with stars. For a change of scenery, head to the quaint village of Beddgelert only a 15-minute walk from the bothy. Or why not check out the local pub that is only a two-mile drive away?
Make the most of your unique location and discover the hive of activity that surrounds you including RSPB Conway, Black Rock Sands, Penryhn Castle and Craflwyn Estate.

Bothy 1 – one room with 5 bunk beds. Bothy 2 - Large room with log burner, dining table and chairs, kitchen with microwave, kettle, Calor gas cooker with four ring hob, oven and grill. Separate field has 2 compostable toilets, 2 separate showers, 2 x outside sinks with cold water only
There is a mezzanine level in bothy 2 which is clear of furniture and equipment.
Acorn Rating: Please note, that while bothies and bunkhouses show a 1 Acorn rating on this site, facilities are more limited. A bothy offers a ‘camping with walls’ experience, usually with no electricity or running water. Bunkhouses provide simple, accommodation for groups – mostly dormitories with bunk-beds – showers, electricity and heating.
First Floor Mezzanine: Please do not use the first floor mezzanine area sleeping as it is not permitted due to fire regulations.
Heating: There is a log burner in bothy 2 in the seating area which can be used. Guests will need to provide their own logs. There is no heating or electricity in bothy 1, where the bunk beds are located.
Equipment: Mattresses are provided. No bedding, linen, crockery, pans or cutlery is provided. Guests should bring their own equipment.
Parking: There are 2 parking spaces located at the base of the field, 50m away from the bothy. This is the closest guests can park so cannot load and unload right outside the bothy. The space from the parking spaces is not lit so it is recommended to bring a torch if you arrive or leave when it is dark.
The track to the bothy is narrow and is not suitable for low slung vehicles. There are alternative places to park in the main National Trust car park at Craflwyn, however this is 300m from the bothy. When accessing the field that the bothy is located in, guests will travel past holiday cottage entrances so we ask politely that noise is kept to a minimum. The two fields are separated by a ford which we advise you not to take vehicles through. There is a footbridge for access.
Garden: There is no enclosed garden.
Please note: In keeping with the ethos of a bothy stay, we ask our guests to leave the bothy in a clean and tidy condition for the next guests. Thank you.
