The diverse landscape in North Devon includes woods, beaches, farmland, meadows, moorland and important archaeological sites. Volunteers play a vital role in helping us to protect and preserve them for everyone, for ever.
If you want to get outdoors and get active, volunteering with the National Trust is an exciting and sociable way to try new things and develop skills while lending a hand to a great cause.
From gardeners at Arlington Court to wildlife monitors in Hartland, there are lots of ways for you to get involved.
Our volunteers come from a range of backgrounds and everyone’s skills and experience are useful. Volunteers help to manage pathways, pick up litter, cut back gorse and make the places we care for more accessible for people with disabilities.
Work programmes are available with something to suit all abilities. These include stone walling, conducting wildlife surveys, working with farm livestock and looking after coastal footpaths.
Some of the volunteers we work with have gone on to become rangers, putting the skills and knowledge they have developed in conservation to good use every day.
