Georgian Christmastide at Castle Ward

This festive season, we invite you to step inside Castle Ward and experience the Mansion dressed in tableau for a traditional 18th century Christmas.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Entering the house, your senses will awaken, and you will view the rooms just as the Georgians did in the dark and cosy Winter evenings ready for Christmastide.

The halls will be wreathed in colourful garlands; the dining table decorated with festive foods and rich wines; the air will be filled with the scents of Christmas; and if you listen carefully, you will hear the sounds of jollity from centuries past!

The Stable yard will be dressed in Georgian style with Christmas lights, accompanied by our costumed Georgian time-travellers (first weekend only) telling you the stories of those who called Castle Ward home during the 18th century. On our late-night opening enjoy a night-time experience of Castle Ward lit up by the twinkling lights.

29 November, 12noon - 7pm All other dates 11am - 4pm
