Join Aaron Kelly in raptor spotting on the mountain.

Juvenile dispersal sees young Merlin, Hen Harrier & Short Eared Owl having fledged their elusive nest sites somewhere along the mighty Antrim Plateau, drift southwards to the mountains. Rather than lift up over the city in their southerly movement, many of these magnificent birds tend to spend time moving around the urban fringe between Cave Hill & Collin Mountain. Of course, we’ll also be looking out for the local residents Peregrine, Kestrel, Buzzard & Raven as well as our smaller passerines & anything else that might be on the move and of interest. There are also many reports of Golden Eagle over the Belfast Hills at this time of year.
