Join us for an evening celebration of Coleridge's 252nd birthday on Monday, October 21st, 2024. Immerse yourself in a magical evening filled with fireside poetry readings, intimate tours, and delicious cheeseboards by candlelight.

Experience Coleridge Cottage after hours for the first time ever. Wander through the humble home where Coleridge once lived and enjoy intimate readings of his iconic works; lose yourself in the magic of "Kubla Khan", and hear "Frost at Midnight" read aloud beside the very fireplace where it was written. When you have finished exploring by the glow of the open fire, retire to the candlelit tearoom for a delicious cheeseboard and enjoy local poets sharing their own works over a glass of hot spiced apple juice pressed from our very own orchard. Each ticket includes entry to the event, a cheeseboard and a cup of hot spiced apple juice.

The basics

Children aged 13+ are welcome to attend.
- Meeting point
Arrive at front of the cottage, where a volunteer will greet you and lead you around the side of the cottage to the garden room for welcome and orientation.
- What to bring and wear
Wear warm, comfortable clothing and flat shoes. The fire will be lit, but the cottage can be chilly!
- Accessibility
Three steps to entrance. Unsuitable for wheelchairs. Uneven floors. No accessible parking. Cobbled areas outside. Short, steep slopes in garden.

• This event is aimed at an adult audience, but ages 13 and over are welcome to attend. Those under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. •Please meet at the garden gate next to the cottage, where a marshal will greet you. • Cheeseboard included in ticket price: hot and cold drinks, bakes, cakes and crisps are also available for purchase on the evening. Food and drink are only permitted in the tearoom. • There is a slope leading up to the garden room. There are cobbled surfaces, uneven steps and narrow corridors, as well as low lighting levels. • Tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled by Coleridge Cottage
