Ways to volunteer at Castle Ward

Volunteers are involved in all aspects of keeping Castle Ward running smoothly, from helping National Trust rangers on the estate to administration and making sure that visitors have the best experience possible.

Here are just some of the jobs you could be doing as a volunteer at Castle Ward:

Visitor experience volunteers

As a visitor experience volunteer you'd provide a friendly and informative welcome and help visitors to make the most of their trip to Castle Ward. You'd also help to organise and deliver a wide range of events and activities. Throughout the year we hold living history events and you could have the opportunity to dress in period costume and help bring this fascinating place to life.

House volunteers

You could be acting as a room steward when the house is open to the public, helping to look after our historic objects or learning new conservation techniques alongside National Trust staff.

Retail volunteers

Retail volunteers help sort and price new products, create displays and help resolve visitors’ enquiries while working as part of the small team.

Conservation volunteers

Working with National Trust rangers, you could be helping to remove invasive species, working on the conservation of Castle Ward’s new meadows or supporting work in the beautiful sunken garden.
