Introduction to calligraphy workshop

Be inspired by Kipling’s home and explore your own creativity through calligraphy workshops.

  • Booking essential

In this workshop led by local artist Alina from Creative Feel Designs, you'll be taught how to use modern dip-pen calligraphy to create stationery in the peaceful surroundings of Bateman's House. The first half of the session you will spend getting familiar with the materials and learning the basic strokes of calligraphy by practicing uppercase and lowercase alphabets. Afterwards you will move onto learning about composition and layout, lettering freehand and creating stationery designs to take home on the day.

This course is perfect for complete calligraphy newbies as well as those who have tried their hand at calligraphy before and need a reminder of how much fun it can be!

2-hour sessions, £30 per person. Admission to Bateman's is included in the ticket price.

Friday 10 and Saturday 11 May, two workshops running per day at 11am–1pm and 2pm–4pm

Calligraphy beginner kits will be available to purchase on the day from Alina in addition to the workshop at £35. Payments for the kits can be taken by cash and card.
