About Caban Llyndy

This very simple, lovingly restored building offers basic, rustic accommodation ideal for walkers needing an over-night stop. Located in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia), Caban Llyndy is only a 15 minute walk from the Watkin path – considered to be the toughest route to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).

The bothy consists of a single downstairs room with a sink and cold-water tap (not drinking water) and two double bed sleeping platforms. Two more single-sleeping platforms are located in the loft area, accessed via a ladder. There is a toilet in a neighbouring outbuilding but there are no other facilities. Guests will need to bring their own airbeds, sleeping mats and bedding and cooking facilities.

Surrounded by meadow land, and with views over nearby Llyn Dinas, Caban Llyndy offers an idyllic retreat from modern life. There are lovely walks in the area – with the pretty village of Beddgelert only a 4 mile walk away and Sygun copper mine en route. If you are after some more adrenaline-fuelled adventure you can find that nearby too, with Zip World adventures, Bounce Below, Surf Snowdonia or Zip World Forest Adventures to name a few.

More information

Acorn Rating: Please note, that while bothies and bunkhouses show a 1 Acorn rating on this site, facilities are more limited. A bothy offers a ‘camping with walls’ experience, usually with no electricity or running water. Bunkhouses provide simple, accommodation for groups – mostly dormitories with bunk-beds – showers, electricity and heating.

Access: The accessibility guide is for guidance only. For up-to-date information, please call the team on 0344 800 2070.

Heating: No heating is provided.

Bedding/linen: No mattresses, bedding or linen is provided. Guests should bring their own airbeds/sleeping mats, pillows, sleeping bags etc

Lighting: Lighting is powered by solar panels therefore the lights may not always work. Guest should bring their own lighting and torches.

Parking: There is space for one car next to the first gate for Llyndy Farm at the base of the field, 50 metres away from the bothy. The route from the parking to the bothy is unlit and uneven so you will need a torch.

Garden: There is no garden, but the bothy is surrounded by meadowland.

Hazards: The cold water tap in the bothy is not drinking water so will need to be boiled before consuming. The first floor of the bothy should not be used for young children as the access is via a ladder.

Dogs: We regret that we cannot accept dogs at this bothy due to its location on a working farm.

Please note: In keeping with the ethos of a bothy stay, we ask our guests to leave the bothy in a clean and tidy condition for the next guests. Thank you.
