Towards the end of the year, many of the houses and gardens in our care are transformed into winter wonderlands, with some hosting magical lights trails. Book a National Trust cottage nearby and enjoy all the season has to offer.
This pretty cottage is in the village of Belton, overlooking the orangery and the village church. Tickets are now on sale for Christmas at Belton, featuring a meadow of light stretching out into the distance, colour-changing larger-than-life neon string flowers, candles floating high into the sky and batons of light that shine all the colours of the rainbow. This 17th-century cottage is at the heart of the estate, with its miles of trails, Jacobean hall and traditional country pub. This 18th-century building began life as a carding mill, and is now a six-bedroom escape, perfect for family get-togethers. It has lots of original features and historic details such as copper work from the Keswick School of Industrial Arts, which you'll see on the fireplace in the dining room. Sleeps 12.
Bosveal occupies the central part of Bosloe House, an Arts and Crafts manor brimming with luxury décor and period features. Work up an appetite with a short stroll to the nearby beach before sitting down to a festive feast in the ornate dining room. Sleeps 10.
A Grade I listed manor house, Horton Court sits on the edge of the rolling Cotswold countryside and was used as a filming location for Poldark and Wolf Hall. Gather around the large table for a Christmas feast with all the trimmings. Sleeps 10.

An 18th-century hop kiln comprises this homey apartment for two on the Brockhampton Estate. The shower looks up into the tall, conical roof of the kiln, while an internal window gives you a glimpse inside the historical building’s structure. Sleeps 2.
