About Tan y Coed Bothy

Nestled in a peaceful wild area just outside the hamlet of Nantmor, Tan y Coed Bothy offers an idyllic retreat from modern life. There are lovely walks in the area, including a 5.7 mile walk from Nantmor to Beddgelert village, which takes in the spectacular Aberglaslyn river gorge, the placid waters of Llyn Dinas and the old copper mine workings of Sygun and Cwm Bychan.

The bothy offers accommodation for up to eight guests across two rooms. As you enter the bothy you’ll find the main sleeping area with three wooden bunk beds, plus a sink with a cold-water tap (not drinking water) and a storage shelf. The bothy’s second room contains two single sleeping platforms. There’s a toilet in an outbuilding to the rear of the bothy, but there are no other facilities. You’ll need to bring your own airbeds, sleeping mats and bedding and cooking equipment.

Those seeking a challenge can try hiking one of the routes to the top of  Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). The Watkin Path – the most difficult route – is about 20 minutes away by car, or for an easier hike you can try the Llanberis Path which is about 40 minutes’ drive. If you’re after some more adrenaline-fuelled adventure then there’s plenty to be found nearby.
