Accessible trail at Penrhyn Castle and Garden

Start point

Step 1
Leave the car park through the Visitor Welcome Centre and follow the footpath straight ahead towards the tarmac road. Here, turn left and away from the castle walking underneath a small mixed woodland known as Lime Grove.
Step 2
When you reach a fork in the road, head right and follow the grounds outer border fence.
Step 3
Follow the path, and don’t forget to look up towards the right for views of the Castle Keep and the Library Carrel. You’ll pass the heather slope on your right before arriving at the Dell on your left.
Step 4
From here you can access the Walled Garden. Both terraces are accessible via the pathway outside the Walled Garden. To access the Bog Garden follow the pathway down to your left. After taking in the jungle-esque garden, come back the way you came and head through the gate in between the hedges to your left. Wander through the top terrace before heading out through the opposite one you came in by.
Step 5
Turn left on to the gravel path and go through the Rhododendron Walk. In spring and early summer the rhododendrons and azaleas are a mass of scent and colour.
Step 6
Follow the circular route around towards the stable courtyard entrance. From here head left and take the tarmac route towards where you started.
