A short walk around Welcombe Mouth

This gentle one-mile circular route offers a good variety over a short distance, including a wooded stream course, inland valleys and spectacular coastal views of the Atlantic.

Start point

National Trust Car Park, EX39 6L ; grid ref: SS212179

Step 1

From the car park head for the stream, over the stepping stones and turn right at the waymarker to walk up the valley. If the river is in flood you can follow the footpath up the river on this side.

Step 2

Upon reaching the bridge turn right onto the road.

Step 3

Follow the road to the crossroads and head back down the lane towards the car park.

Step 4

After passing the National Trust sign look out for a small gate on the right. Pass through this gate and the impressive view unfolds before you. Follow this path back to the car park.
