About Abbey Stores

Ideal for a romantic break, 18th-century Abbey Stores became a shop in the 1930s before being transformed into a cosy holiday cottage in the 1990s. With many original features intact, this characterful cottage, complete with wood-burning stove, is in a truly unique location.

Just moments away from the entrance to Fountains Abbey, you can’t fail to be impressed by this beautiful World Heritage site dating back to the 12th-century. The abbey had a starring role in The Secret Garden, with the ruins of the East Guest House transformed into part of the magical garden for the film. Explore the grounds of the site at your leisure, even when all the other visitors have gone home.

Further afield, the city of York makes for a fantastic day out. Just 30 miles from the cottage, this famous city is awash with Medieval architecture, traditional inns and narrow lanes.
