Low Strawberry Gardens

Draw back the curtains to an idyllic lake scene where sailing boats bob along the waters and towering mountains provide the backdrop. Low Strawberry Gardens sits within metres of the west shore of Windermere, complete with a jetty where you can watch the scenery unfold. Once a market garden, where tourists would row across the lake for its main crop, strawberries, it's now a lakeside holiday cottage full of original features from the slate floors to the exposed beams in the sitting room. There's light, heat and in the ktichen, an under-counter fridge and gas oven, but no electicity sockets. It's a place for a simple, quiet holiday, away from screens and devices. 

Bring your own kayak or canoe and launch it from the jetty in the garden. You could also loop onto the lakeshore path and head north to Wray Castle or amble along to the Claife Viewing Station with its spectacular viewpoint and charming little café.

For restaurants and retail therapy Bowness is just a short ferry ride across the lake and Ambleside, situated at the top of Lake Windermere, is a twenty minute drive. The town is surrounded by countryside, with fells, woodland, and the quirky little Bridge House and a Roman fort all to be discovered.

Low Strawberry Gardens is joined to High Strawberry Gardens (sleeps four) and they can be booked together. They share the jetty and a grassy garden area.

Layout

Ground floor: Kitchen-diner. Sitting room with an old cottage range with built-in woodburner. Shower room with toilet. Three steep steps lead up to the double bedroom with 5' bed.

First floor: Twin bedroom. 

Outside space

There is a grassed area at the back of the cottage, shared with Low Strawberry Gardens. The shore of Lake Windermere is to the front of the cottage, with a jetty where you can launch your unpowered watercraft.

Heating: Gas central heating included. 

Parking: Available adjacent to the cottages. 

What's provided in this cottage? Please note that, due to the limited supply of electricity, this cottage does not contain the usual cottage inventory. There is no television, radio/CD, microwave, toaster, hairdryer, iron or ironing board.

Utilities/Electricals: There are no electric sockets available at this cottage. Please do not use the socket for fridge due to shortage of electric supply. 

The water for this cottage is from a private supply and may be in short supply at certain times of year.
