This former gate lodge on the western boundary of Lyme’s grand estate and deer park is the perfect spot for getting away from it all. With out-of-hours access to the grounds, take in the jaw dropping views towards urban Manchester and beyond, through Drinkwater Meadow, or the rugged moors of the Peak District, and you’ll definitely feel you’re in a different world.

The cottage has stone flagstone floors and a cosy woodburner, and you can wake up to views of the gorgeous countryside from dual-aspect windows. Outside, there are gardens to the rear and side.

You’re free to wander, cycle, or run the trails on the 1400-acre estate grounds, and explore places like the deer park, the pool made famous by Mr Darcy (in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice,) or the huge garden away from the crowds. You'll also have free entry to the house during opening hours.

The town of Macclesfield is only 7 miles from the cottage, with shops, supermarkets, restaurants and monthly food, drink and craft market.

Beyond Lyme, the beautiful Peak District stretches for miles if you’re keen to challenge yourself, whether that’s walking, climbing, caving, heading out on a bike, or even on horseback. Discover iconic Kinder Scout, Iron Age hill fort Mam Tor and the Edale valley for more stunning landscapes and a chance to get closer to nature. For a more sedate pace, there's the famous spa towns of Matlock and Buxton, or meander around Bakewell. When you stay with us, the funds from your holiday go towards caring for special landscapes and places, like the Peak District and Lyme.

Lyme East Lodge (sleeps four) is on the eastern boundary of the estate, about a 50-minute walk from Lyme West Lodge, and both cottages can be booked together for a group eight.
