Trees are essential for life. They clean the air we breathe, lock up carbon as they grow and provide homes for wildlife. Donate to Plant a Tree and help us plant and establish 20 million trees by 2030.

Trees are one of our best natural defences against climate change, which is having a devastating impact on places where people and nature can thrive. We predict that planting and establishing 20 million trees will, at their peak, store around 300,000 tonnes of carbon a year.

As the weather warms up, blossoming trees and hedgerows play their part in benefiting wildlife and people. Rare birds like hen harriers and warblers feed on the insects that are attracted to blossom, and bees gather pollen from trees and hedgerows.

But since the early 1900s, 81 per cent of the UK's traditional orchards have been lost, and around half of all hedgerows have disappeared in Britain since 1945. With your help, we'll be able to plant even more blossoming trees and hedgerows.

There's no time to lose. We must plan for the future of woodlands, parklands and orchards so we can tackle the nature and climate crises together. Help us to plant more trees today and support life for years to come.

Plant a tree in memory or as a gift

Why not dedicate your donation to someone in your life? It could be a unique gift, an eco-friendly birthday present, or a lasting way to remember a loved one. You'll receive a digital certificate which you can share with the recipient – it's customisable and has options to add their name and an occasion, such as a birthday, a marriage or in memory. Once you’ve completed your donation, you’ll receive a confirmation email within 15 minutes with your certificate attached for you to download.

Why plant a tree?

We need to work together to tackle the climate crisis, and it's only with your support that we can make a difference. These new trees will create new habitats for wildlife, including the red squirrel, song thrush and red kite. Your donation today will help plant and establish more trees that will lock up carbon, help nature flourish and create natural spaces for people to enjoy.

How much does it cost to plant a tree?

Our suggested minimum donation amount is £5, as this is approximately what it costs us to plant one new sapling. However, larger donations allow us to plant bigger, more established trees, such as fruiting orchard trees. No matter the size of your donation to our Plant a Tree fund, you’ll help to create beautiful green spaces for people and wildlife to thrive.

How we’re bringing blossom back

Hedgerows and orchards provide food for insects, homes for wildlife and a spectacle of spring blossom for humans. However, they are disappearing from UK landscapes. Find out more about what we're doing to bring blossoming trees and hedgerows back.
