Specialist tour – LGBTQ+ histories tour
Take a queer histories tour of Bath Assembly Rooms looking at people from 1770 to 1900.
- Booking essential
Our curatorial team have been researching all aspects of Georgian life as we continue to uncover the stories of Bath Assembly Rooms. This tour shares the stories of people that might have identified as LGBTQ+ and is for anyone that wants to learn about the history of this place from a new angle.
The likes of Oscar Wilde, Chevalier d’Eon, Anne Lister and local man William Beckford. All these people lived or came to Bath to perform or play out their part in history and during this tour we explore what happened to them whilst at the Assembly Rooms.
Queer heritage is about remembering and, in a way, celebrating, a painful and complicated past, as well as repairing and restoring it. This tour contains some content that visitors may find upsetting. A quiet space is available if you need to take a step back at any time.
Tours will last approximately 1 hour and are aimed at adults but are also suitable for interested older children. Please book a space for everyone in your party.
Charges apply. Standard tickets £10, free for National Trust members, you will need to bring your membership card with you. Concession tickets £5. Concession tickets are designed to allow everyone access. If you cannot pay the standard ticket price at this time, this ticket type is for you.
