On 11th July 2024 we held our Symposium, entitled ‘Female Craft and Design in the Eighteenth and Early Nineteenth Centuries’. Held at Reed Hall, University of Exeter, we invited a wide range of people to share stories about A la Ronde and how it connects to the wider world. This paper 'Conserving the Past, Creating the Future: a summary of the conservation project at A la Ronde' was presented by Daniel Cull, as part of the panel 'A la Ronde and National Trust conservation work'.

Conserving the Past, Creating the Future: a summary of the conservation project at A la Ronde

Daniel Cull presented his paper 'Conserving the Past, Creating the Future: a summary of the conservation project at A la Ronde' at the A la Ronde symposium 2024.

Biography: Daniel Cull

Daniel Cull gained his Icon Accreditation in 2016, and works as a Conservation Consultant in the National Trust’s SW Consultancy. Previously Daniel trained at UCL’s Institute of Archaeology and later worked at the National Museum of the American Indian/Smithsonian Institution, Musical Instrument Museum Phoenix, Historic Royal Palaces, and English Heritage.

Daniel served as President of the Western Association for Art Conservation and on the editorial board of e-conservation magazine. Daniel has research interests in Well-being, Collections Salvage, and Climate Change, and recently co-authored the Routledge book ‘Museums and Well-Being’.

On 11th July 2024 we held A la Ronde's Symposium, entitled ‘Female Craft and Design in the Eighteenth and Early Nineteenth Centuries’. This paper 'Transcultural-ism in Nineteenth-Century Mofussil India: Begam Samru and Her Architecturally Hybrid Sardhana Palace' was presented by Professor Jyoti Pandey Sharma.
