Camp out and night time nature exploration

Experience wild camping at Kipscombe and take part in a night walk and moth trapping with the ranger team.

Come and spend a night of free wild camping on Exmoor at Kipscombe.

Join us for a BBQ from 4pm (bring your own food) followed by setting moth traps, before going on a night walk with bat detectors and a thermal scope. After a night of wild camping we will take a look at the moth traps and learn about the wonderful world of moths. Tea, coffee, water, cakes and pastries for breakfast provided.

Booking is essential to secure a free camping spot at Kipscombe. You can book your camping spot online here, one spot per tent. Maximum tent size 6 person. Toilets are available on site.

Please note: this is a overnight event running from the 4pm on Thursday 22 August - 12pm Friday 23 August.

Please bring sturdy footwear and warm clothing for the night walk. 2-man tents will be available to borrow, please contact maia.rhoads@nationaltrust.org.uk if needed.

Meeting point

Parking is available in the car park just off of the A39 (what3words: smaller.hardback.escalates), approximately 1 mile past the Blue Ball Inn. Signage will direct you down to Kipscombe Farm.

What to bring and wear

There will be walking throughout, in the dark and in daylight, so please bring sturdy footwear and warm clothing.
