Festival of Archaeology at Badbury Rings
Uncover 4,000 years of history at Badbury Rings at a weekend of guided walks, hands on activities and art activities, part of the Council of British Archaeology’s Festival of Archaeology.

Saturday 13 July, 10am and 1.30pm – join National Trust Archaeologist, Martin Papworth for a two hour walk of Badbury Rings. £10 per person. Pre-booking is essential. See separate event listing for online bookings or telephone 0344 249 1895.
Sunday 14 July, 10am and 1.30pm – join National Trust Ranger, Luke Dawson, for a 45-minute introductory walk of Badbury Rings to understand its significance for archaeology and nature. After this you will join Ari Samadder, Collections Assistant, to explore how Badbury Rings fits with hill forts around the world. Free, offered on a first come, first served basis on the day.
Saturday 13 July and Sunday 14 July, 10am to 3pm – enjoy a range of activities, including the launch of Otter Gallery’s Wimborne Young Artist competition and much more. Daily: • Take some time to get arty. Will you recreate the rings, imagine what Badbury Rings could look like in the future, or reminisce on how many lives have passed through Badbury Rings? Whatever you create you might like to enter them in Otter Gallery’s Wimborne Young Artist competition (suitable for 0-16 years). • Join Nance Grace, Archaeologist, to discover more about the history of Badbury Rings and explore some of the items which can be unearthed during archaeological digs. • Have a go at wattle and daub – getting a taste for how some of the original buildings at Badbury Rings would have been made. • Discover the location and style of a roundhouse. • And more family friendly activities.

Badbury Rings is a pay and display car park. Free for members; scan your membership card for an all-day ticket. Charges for non-members: £1.50 an hour, £4 all day.
