Relaxed hour in the art gallery

Visit the art gallery on one of our 'Relaxed hour' visits. A new project to help make the art gallery accessible to people who require a calmer and more relaxed visit.

  • Booking essential
  • Free event (admission applies)

Our summer exhibition is always popular and can get very busy. We want to make the exhibition accessible to people who require a calmer and more relaxed visit, so we are offering ‘Relaxed Hour’ sessions for visitors to see the exhibition before the gallery opens to the public.

These sessions are especially suitable for visitors with sensory processing issues, and neurodivergent thinking processes associated with autism and a range of other difficulties, along with their families and carers.

The sessions will run from 10.00am - 11.00am and spaces will be limited so booking is essential. Entrance to the grounds will be from 9.50am to give visitors extra time to get to the gallery.

Sensory items will be available for visitors to borrow, and friendly staff and volunteers will be there to give you a warm welcome and support your visit.

At 11.00am we open our doors for general admission; however, you are welcome to stay in the gallery for as long as you like. As this is a pilot programme, admission is free. We would be very grateful for your feedback to help shape future sessions and we will contact you after the event for your feedback.
