This autumn half-term, join Gunner Bruce, a Victorian soldier and amateur naturalist, as he investigates some mysterious bat sightings at The Needles Old Battery.

Help Bruce uncover what type of bat is hiding in the fort by examining bat scat, exploring a spooky creepy-crawlie feast, and discovering shadows in the dark!

It’s a fun and educational adventure for the whole family—perfect for anyone with a love of wildlife and a taste for mystery this Halloween season!

What to bring and wear

The Old Battery is very exposed so please dress for the weather.

Accessibility

Adapted toilet and toilets available at the Needles Old Battery. There are some steep slopes and uneven surfaces inside the Battery but they can be avoided. Onsite parking is not available – nearest car parks are at Alum Bay or Freshwater Bay (not National Trust). Dogs on leads are welcome.
