Summer of Play - Bug Hunts
Come and join us in the colourful chalk meadows and search for bugs. Find butterflies, beetles, moths, bees, caterpillars and many more. We'll play some games and you can make a badge of your favourite bug to take home.

We've masses of wildlife in our lovely chalk meadows behind the White Cliffs of Dover - and you can find it - if you know where to look. Join our friendly ecologist, Mel, for 90 minutes of fun activities in the fields at Foxhill Down, near the Visitor Centre, to discover what lives hidden in the grass and the bushes. There are butterflies, day-flying moths, beetles, caterpillars, bees, birds, flowers, and many more. Mel will identify them for you and tell you more about them. We'll play some games and you can make a badge of your favourite bug to take home.

- Suitability
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult throughout the activity.
- Meeting point
Meet outside the shop at the National Trust Visitor Centre at 10.30am
- What to bring and wear
The grass may be wet, so please bring suitable footwear.
- Accessibility
Due to the nature of the activity, it will take place on unsurfaced tracks and unmown grass, which may be uneven and moderately steep in places. We won't be going near the cliff edge.
- Other
The event is free - normal parking charges apply. National Trust members can park for free. No booking is required - just turn up. Toilets and accessible toilets are available at the visitor centre. Summer of Play is sponsored by Starling Bank.
