Big Butterfly Count
Help us with the Big Butterfly Count between Friday 12 July and Sunday 4 August for Butterfly Conservation’s national annual survey.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Launched in 2010 the Butterfly Conservation's Big Butterfly Count has rapidly become the world's biggest survey of butterflies. Over 107,000 citizen scientists took part in 2021, submitting 152,039 counts of butterflies and day-flying moths from across the UK.
Collect your chart from the Garden Room, take a seat in the gardens for 15 minutes and make a note of which butterflies and moths you see. You can send your sightings to the website (www.bigbutterflycount.org) or download the free app.
By taking part you're helping to assess the health of our environment and it's a great way to get close to nature. This is also a great activity to do with kids!
