Day of Discovery
Festival of Archaeology. There’s so much to discover in our local community. Come on in and start exploring.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Delve into the history of the former Rainham Hall tenants with our selection of items found in the hall and gardens then have a go at making your own clay pot. Dig for fossils or see if you can release our ice age animals who have been frozen in time.
At 11.30am, 1.00pm and 2.45pm we welcome a posse of Palaeolithic cavemen who cause mischief with their pet Woolly Wonder! You better hold onto your snacks, as these silly hunter gatherers and not so extinct Mammoth, aren’t quite civilized yet!
And members of the Essex Rock and Mineral Society will be on hand with their display of rocks telling the secrets of what happened in Essex over millions of years.
There’s plenty for everyone at this free event. The café and garden will be open. Rainham Hall open for tours, fee payable.
