Family Fun Cycle (3-5 miles)
Join Sunderland Young People’s Bike Project for a family friendly cycle along the river, starting at Gibside.

A local fun cycle ride starting at Gibside and heading along the Tyne Derwent Way. This bike ride is aimed at children and their families and will consist of a leisurely ride along cycle route 14 with Sunderland Young People’s Bike Project. The ride will be a slow and easy pace and will be between 3 and 5 miles. Bikes and personal protective equipment can be provided or participants can bring their own bikes if they feel more comfortable. The ride will take approximately 1hr 15mins in total. Participants must be able to pedal 3-5 miles independently.
Book for free below. Meet at Gibside Visitor Reception. Please note this ride does not go through Gibside and does not include entry into Gibside. Cycling around Gibside is not permitted.
This activity is part of the Tyne Derwent Way Summer of Cycling. The Tyne Derwent Way is a nine-mile green corridor that connects natural green space and important cultural and heritage sites all the way from St Mary’s Heritage Centre in Gateshead to Gibside. Come along to find out more.
