Faringdon has a rich and fascinating history from mention in the Domesday Book through the Middle Ages, as a Royalist stronghold in the Civil War and, from the 1930s to 1950s, home to the eccentric Lord Berners. All these stories are set upon a unique geology that has been an important crossroads where the east and west from London to Bristol crossed the road from Coventry to Southampton and westwards to Gloucester. There really is something for everyone - fossils, battles, quirky signs and even pink pigeons.
Buscot & Coleshill Estate volunteers are supporting the local town of Faringdon with their town tour. Tours will take place on the first Saturday of the month from April to October.
