As part of the YHA's festival of walking we're hosting a walk in partnership with YHA Ilam Hall.
This is an all-day, 10 mile circular walk starting from Ilam Park and taking in some of the most stunning scenery in the White Peak. This route will take you along the River Manifold to the magnificent Thor’s Cave, a natural cavern set in a steep limestone crag, with its huge arched entrance easily visible from the footpath and steps below. Continuing on to the picturesque village of Wetton, then following the river on the opposite side of the Manifold valley before returning to Ilam Park for a well-deserved cuppa and a piece of cake.

Accompanied children over the age of 14 years.
- Meeting point
Meet at the Welcome hut in the car park.
- What to bring and wear
Wear sturdy shoes and come prepared for the weather, that might be sunhats or raincoats. Bring a packed lunch.
- Accessibility
This route is hilly with some sections on quiet roads, some steps and some stiles. Some paths will be muddy in wet weather. Whilst Thor’s Cave can be accessed easily from the footpath, great care should be taken in exploring – there are very steep, unguarded drops from the entrances, and the surfaces can be slippery.
