Summer of Play: Orienteering taster session
This year in the Play Garden we are encouraging our visitors to get active with each other, challenge themselves, and find fun in unexpected places. Join us in the walled garden for a family orienteering taster session.

To help our visitors learn new skills and get active themselves we are partnering with some local sporting groups to provide taster sessions to families in the Walled Garden. Joining us are the Suffolk Orienteering Club who will be running free taster sessions in the Walled Garden on the 6th, 15th, and 22nd of August between 10:30-15:00. The workshop sessions are on a first come first served basis and visitors are encouraged to drop in throughout the day.
Orienteering is the sport of finding your way around some controls using a map. Although it can be tackled at a run with the elites making rapid snap decisions as they speed around, it is also as much fun taking it at a stroll, whether as an individual, in pairs or a small group. Members of Suffolk Orienteering Club will be on hand to teach beginners all they need to know and provide help for those having tried it before and fancy taking on the challenge. With simple courses within the Walled Garden and a longer one taking you into the surrounding parkland, there will be something suitable for everyone.
