Reigate Fort Garrison Day
Join historical re-enactors from Team Skirmish at Reigate Fort and find out what it was like to be a solider in the First World War.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
On 4 August 1914, Great Britain entered the First World War. To mark the 60th anniversary, Team Skirmish will be giving talks and demonstrations about the life of a soldier throughout the day.
Discover how the army would have recruited - you can even complete a copy of the original recruitment form to take home with you. You can also find out what food the soldiers would have eaten and see cookery demonstrations, and hear about how the medical officers treated the wounded soldiers with a recreation of a dressing station. There will also be infantry drill practice and a bugler at the fort.
