Summer of Play
Discover a day jam-packed with fun at Tredegar House. Experience a summer of play during school holidays with games in the gardens, inspired by Evan Morgan's menagerie of animals.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Evan Morgan kept his own zoo, or menagerie, of animals in the Orangery garden in the 1930s and 40s – as strange as that might seem to us now. Discover more about Alice the Honey Bear, Bimbo the Baboon and Somerset the Kangaroo - amongst others - with a series of fun and playful games and activities. Discover fun Loose Parts play in the Orchard garden, or don a costume to create your own playful Performance. The jungle is the spot for exciting Nature Play – and you can let off some steam with games and activities in the Cedar Garden, with Active Play. There will also be opportunities for Quiet Play in the House in the cool space of the Small Library – with a host of animal themed board and card games, while also searching for clues throughout the House to help find Evan’s dog, Rollo, the Great Dane.
