Music and Fashion of the 1970s and 1980s

This year's Christmas exhibition in the Long Gallery celebrates the music and fashions of the 1970s and 1980s, as remembered by the staff and volunteers of Hanbury Hall and Greyfriars.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

From Led Zeppelin, Slade, and The Moody Blues to Toyah Wilcox and Duran Duran - many renowned musicians and bands have roots in Worcester, Birmingham and other nearby areas. Ska, reggae, punk, new wave and new romantics were music subcultures that arose in the 70s and 80s and influenced the fashions of the day. The music and fashion of the time are significant to our cultural identity. This exhibition offers a snapshot of the music and fashion during that time.

The exhibition has been curated by Fashion Curator Karen Nutton, whose 20 year career in the fashion industry culminated in over 20 years teaching fashion disciplines at North East Worcestershire College (now HOW College) and Birmingham City University.
