Elgar wrote many songs throughout his career. Many of them hardly known today, but they are all of great beauty and interest, and we are showcasing some of the finest of them in our concert which will feature Soprano Valerie Sherlock and bass/baritone Kieran Sherlock.
Providing a narrative which will once again place each song in the context of Elgar’s life. The intriguing thing about Elgar’s song are that in every case he chose the words very carefully to reflect the events of his own life, his relationships and his mood. Therefore they must always be regarded as autobiographical and Richard Westwood-Brookes talk will highlight this.
The concert is being staged through the very general sponsorship of The Elgar Society.
This talk will take place on Sunday 8 December at 11am and 2pm. With only 60 tickets available per recital this will not be an event to miss.
