Feel the warmth of festive family days and enjoy adventures on the Dinefwr Estate with friends this winter. Find out what's on over festive season, from the excitement of the Dinefwr Christmas fair to the traditional Mari Lwyd event and bracing winter walks enjoying the beauty of the ancient parkland.

Dinefwr Christmas Fair

22, 23, 24 November (10:00 – 16:00)

Join us for the annual Christmas Fair at Dinefwr. The frontage and courtyard outside Newton House will host incredible stall holders in marquees selling beautiful locally made crafts and food.

Step into Newton House and be one of the first to enjoy this year’s delightful decorations; centre stage will be our spectacular ‘Creatures of Dinefwr’ Christmas tree.

During the Christmas Fair, there will be a park and ride service available from Home Farm, running approximately every 10 minutes. Parking for blue badge holders will be in the usual car park at Newton House.

Enjoy a beautiful and restful Christmas

Weekends from 23 November. Daily 16 December - 5 January (excluding 24 & 25 December)

Visit beautifully decorated Newton House, and the growing tradition of our special Christmas Tree. We’ll be unveiling seven new decorations on the Creatures of Dinefwr Christmas Tree. These decorations are of the amazing creatures that can be found roaming the estate and are created by the talented artist Bettina Reeves.

Look out for the sparkly swan muscle and the little egret can you spot the other new decorations?

Relax at the fireside in the café, enjoy a warming bowl of soup or a luxury hot chocolate in these beautiful surroundings.

Santa Sundays

1, 8, 15 December

Meet Santa at Dinefwr as the Drawing Room is transformed into his magical grotto, a place where he can keep an eye on his reindeer in the Deer Park. The house is decorated for Christmas and lots of family activities in the basement. Pre-booking essential. Each slot may have up to eight children and their families. Book your visit here

The Mari Lwyd

31 December & 3 January

Join us for a warming drink, music, and a mischievous Mari in this fun Welsh tradition. When Mari and her group get to Newton House, they will sing Welsh language songs or wassails, and indulge in a ritual called pwnco: an exchange of rude rhymes with the person who lives there. If the Mari and her gang get entry, the household is said to have good luck for the year. The Mari is well-known to be mischievous – trying to steal things and the chase people she likes – as she goes about her bidding. Wear suitable shoes and cosy clothes.
