About Peckover Stable Lodge

Peckover Stable Lodge is part of an 18th-century coach house, tucked away next to Peckover House and Garden. You’ll have free entry to Peckover, an elegant Georgian town house, when it's open and your own key to the door that leads from the lodge's courtyard into Peckover’s garden. This special garden has remained mainly unchanged since its Victorian heyday, with a rose garden, orangery, orchard lawn and borders full of herbaceous plants. You can continue to explore the grounds when the other visitors have left for the day.

The coach house is in the heart of Wisbech, five minutes from the harbour and 30 minutes from the coast. The Wash National Nature Reserve is 16 miles away. A short distance further, the coastline changes from dramatic saltmarshes to miles of sandy beaches, pinewoods and dunes, stretching from Hunstanton to Brancaster and beyond Holkham to Wells-next-the-Sea.

There are two other holiday cottages in Wisbech. Coach House Loft (sleeps two) is a first-floor apartment joined to Peckover Stable Lodge, and Wainman House (sleeps 12) is a grand Georgian house nearby.

Layout

Ground floor: Spacious kitchen-diner, which overlooks the inner courtyard. Shower room with utility cupboard. Stairs lead from the kitchen to the first floor.

First floor: A central staircase leads to an open-plan room with the small sitting area to one side and the double bed on the other. The rooms are partially screened by a mid-height wall encasing the stairs, and there are sloped ceilings with low beams.

Outside space

Courtyard with south-facing seating area. When all three cottages are occupied, the courtyard will predominantly be used for parking spaces.

A key is provided to the door in the garden wall between the courtyard and Peckover House’s four acre garden, which you are welcome to use at all times. However, dogs are not allowed into Peckover House or Garden.
