Retreat to this stylish, 1930s wooden bungalow for a week of calm next to the water’s edge. Its name is taken from its former owner, Powders Thurburn, a sailor and artist who settled here after years of adventuring the seas. You can see why he chose this romantic spot where Frenchman's Creek meets the main Helford River; the garden provides impressive views over the glistening waters. Inside, the two-bedroom bungalow has a chic interior with wooden floors, a large double-bedroom and a modern kitchen area. 

Walk across the headlands for the riverside pub and post office in Helford village. You can also hop onto the ferry from here for trips across the river.

The aqua-coloured waters of Kynance Cove and The Lizard are just a 30-minute drive away. Here you can hop onto the South West Coast Path for walks along the most southerly point of the UK.

Cottage approach: A path extends through the little gate to the left of the cottage. This path forks after about 20 metres with the right fork taking you up to a small unfenced pond which often fills with moss and leaves and may be difficult to spot.

Powders is down a path from the parking area and there is a number of steps down to the property.

Offers: Guests will benefit from a late Sunday checkout of 4pm at this cottage.

Logs: A starter supply of logs, fire lighters and kindling will be provided free of charge. Guests will need to source any additional logs elsewhere.

Due to the nature of the installation of the woodburner, we are unable to provide a Nursery Guard, but a Fire Surround can be fitted upon request.

Please note: The cottage sits on the banks of a river and care must be taken. Young children should not be left unattended in the garden.

The lower path leading to the quay gives immediate access to very deep water when the tide is in and a very sharp drop onto the beach if the tide is out. Please note the quay is currently out of use.
