A beautifully restored thatched cottage with a modern rustic interior, set within Calke Abbey.
Stay in this charming 17th-century thatched cottage where country rustic meets contemporary comfort. Its low beamed ceilings and large bricked fireplace have been preserved, while modern furnishings have been added to create an inviting holiday cottage. It started life as three separate homes but now makes up a detached three-bedroom cottage in its own grounds with a private garden.
Within easy reach of Calke Abbey and conveniently located close to East Midlands Airport, you can take advantage of the cottage's unique position to explore the 600-acre parkland before other visitors arrive. The estate's deer park is home to a herd of red and fallow deer, and the ancient woodland includes the 'Old Man of Calke' oak tree, which is estimated to be 1,200 years old.
The nearby Georgian market town of Melbourne is less than a 10 minute drive from the cottage. Here you’ll find a wealth of tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. For walks in the Peak District, you can reach the southern end in less than an hour’s drive.
