When reading pitch descriptions, pay attention to whether the field allows barbecues if you plan to use one. You can barbecue in the upper field only.

Quiet time is 10pm - 7am. Before booking, please make sure that becoming quiet for the night at 10pm works for your group.

We will always try to accommodate walkers without a booking - please arrive before 5pm to secure a pitch. You can book online for same-day arrival if pitches are available.

If you would like to camp next to friends or family, please let us know in your booking and we'll do our best to help when you arrive although we can't always guarantee adjacent pitches.

Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.

The minimum stay is two nights, and three nights on Bank Holiday weekends.

We offer a car free discount if you arrive on foot, by bike or by public transport. Please retain any public transport tickets to claim the discount. Ask for details at reception when you arrive.

We welcome organised groups. Upper Booth Farm Campsite is well placed on the Pennine Way for Duke of Edinburgh groups at bronze, silver or gold level. Please complete the group booking form at the bottom of the page and we'll get back to you.

You don't have to be a member of the National Trust to camp and we are unable to offer member discounts due to the regulations we are governed by as a charity. If you'd like to be a member and support our work, please speak to the team at reception.

In November, Upper Booth Farm Campsite is only open at weekends. Check-in is on Friday or Saturday, with all departures by Sunday. The campsite then closes for the season.

East: Hope (Chesterfield/Sheffield) Hope via A6187 (Station Road). In Hope, turn right just after Old Hall pub onto Edale Road (signposted Edale). Turn left just after little bridge to stay on Edale Road. Carry on Edale Road for a few miles, passing the Edale YHA and then continue past the turn to Edale Village. Turn right at signpost to ‘Upper Booth’. Please note that this is a narrow, restricted road and not suitable for large vehicles. Passing places are limited. Go under railway bridge. Carry on until you reach Barber Booth car park on the left. Just after the car park, continue straight on along the winding road.
When you reach the red phone box turn right into the farmyard. Continue through the farmyard and through the gate marked ‘Upper Booth Farm Campsite’. Continue a hundred meters to the car park on your right, the reception is on your left.West: Chapel-en-le-Frith (Manchester/Buxton) A6187 eastbound (Sheffield Road). Turn left at ‘Barber Booth / Edale’ sign.
Before Barber Booth, turn left at the sign to ‘Upper Booth’. Please note that this is a narrow, restricted road and not suitable for large vehicles. Passing places are limited. Go under railway bridge. Carry on until you reach Barber Booth car park on the left. Just after the car Park, continue straight on along the winding road.

Continue a hundred meters to the car park on your right, the reception is on your left.Bus: The village of Edale is not served by a regular bus route. However, Northern Trains run a regular service along the Hope Valley Line between Manchester and Sheffield and stops at Edale Station. It is then a couple of miles walk to the campsite.

Early check-in, from 11am, can be booked in advance for an additional cost, subject to availability.

If reception is closed, your late arrival envelope will be in the box underneath the welcome board. Go ahead and pitch and come back to check in when we're open again. The upper field has designated pitches but you can choose where to pitch in the lower field. Please pitch at least 6m away from other campers.

On your day of departure, please leave your pitch by 11am. Late check-out may be possible for an additional cost - please book and pay at reception. If you'd like to extend your stay, please book and pay at reception by 11am.

There are a couple of private pitches tucked away by Crowden Brook which flows through the campsite. One is for a single tent for up to five people (maximum of four adults) (Crowden Brook small private pitch area), and the other for a group of up to three tents (up to 6m x 4m) for up to 18 campers (maximum of 12 adults) (Crowden Brook large private pitch area). Each of these two pitches is alone with some privacy away from other campers and surrounded by trees.
Most pitches are in one of two car-free fields, surrounded by trees and with informal scattered pitches - the upper field and lower field. They have a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere and feel spacious. Barbecues are only allowed in the upper field. The lower field has designated pitches but you can choose where to pitch in the upper field. Please pitch at least 6m away from other campers. The upper field is closest to the car park. The lower field is about 120m away from the car park.

There is no electric hook-up at Upper Booth Farm Campsite.

The campsite is suitable for campervans up to a maximum of 5.5m in length. Sorry, but we can't accept caravans, motorhomes or trailer tents of any length.

We can accept roof tents on campervan pitches.

The pitches are grass in the upper field. In wet weather, we may have to ask you to move to the hardstanding parking area.

There is no electric hook-up.

Sorry, we don't have a chemical toilet disposal facility.

Sorry, we don't have access to onboard water collection/disposal.

Up to eight people can sleep in the barn, which has a decked area for sleeping mats, a picnic bench, lighting and electrical sockets. It's dog friendly.
There's a small shop in reception selling some basic camping supplies including charcoal and OS maps. There are benches by the woodburner and plenty of information about walks and things to see and do in the area.
Showers and toilets: The facilities block is heated and has showers and toilets. There's an accessible wet room. Hot showers are free of charge.
Washing-up area: The washing-up area is outside the facilities block. Please give the area a wipe down after you've used it, so it's ready for the next person.
Laundry and drying rooms: There's no laundry at Upper Booth Farm Campsite. There's a drying room.
Waste: We have general waste and recycling facilities.
Chemical waste: Sorry, we don't have a chemical toilet disposal facility.
Freeze packs: We have a freezer for freezing your own ice packs, which is accessible when reception is open.
Gas cylinders: Sorry, we don't exchange gas cylinders. We sell camping gas, as does a garage in Hope, and an outdoors store in Castleton sells small gas cylinders.
Electric Vehicle charging: Sorry, there's no electric vehicle charging at Upper Booth Farm Campsite.
Parking: The camping fields are car-free. The upper field is closest to the car park. The lower field is about 120m away from the car park.
Wi-Fi: Sorry, we don't have Wi-Fi.
Mobile phone signal: There is no mobile phone signal at the campsite, but you may find signal when you are out and about during the day.
Local information: There's plenty of local information in reception with benches by the woodburner. The team is very happy to answer questions and give more information about the local area.
We welcome dogs (other than dogs listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991) free of charge, two per pitch. The camping barn also allows two dogs. Let us know when you book. When at the campsite, please keep your dog on a lead at all times and exercise them away from other campers. Please pick up after your dog right away and use the waste bins provided. Sorry, campfires and disposable barbecues are not allowed anywhere in the Peak District National Park.
Charcoal barbecues are allowed in the upper field when raised from the ground. They are not allowed in the lower field.
The Crowden Brook private pitches allow gas appliances only, due to increased fire risk in that area.
Caravans and trailer tents: Due to the long narrow lane with limited passing places leading to the campsite, we do not accept caravans, motorhomes or trailer tents. We accept campervans if within the size restriction, and roof tents. Please note the maximum length of vehicle we can accept at this site is 5.5 metres.
Quiet time: Please think of your neighbours and help us protect the peace and tranquility at Upper Booth Farm Campsite at all times. No noise 10pm - 7am please. Before booking, please be sure that becoming quiet for the night at 10pm works for your group.
Cooking safety: Cooking inside tents is not permitted and can be lethal due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
No audible devices please including radios, stereos or other sound systems please.
Group bookings: Official groups, like Duke of Edinburgh, are very welcome at National Trust campsites. Please complete the booking form at the bottom of this page.
Lost property: If you leave any of your possessions behind at the campsite, please contact us as soon as possible.
We reserve the right to charge you for any storage and delivery costs that we incur in relation to your lost property. We charge a lost property charge of £10 to cover our administrative costs and standard Royal Mail delivery up to 2kgs in the UK to return your items to you. If a request to return your items deviates from these conditions, then we reserve the right to charge you any additional costs.
Where possible, we’ll hold lost property for three months after which it’ll be disposed of. Perishables will be disposed of immediately and are therefore unreturnable. In addition, we will only be able to return items permissible by Royal Mail.
Problem or complaint: Every reasonable care will be taken to ensure that the camping pitch, pod or bothy and also site amenities are presented to a high standard. Should you find any cause for complaint, please immediately contact one of the campsite staff, so that reasonable steps can then be taken to rectify the problem. National Trust will not normally make any refunds in respect of complaints made after the Visitor’s departure from the campsite if the Visitor did not make the problem or complaint known to staff during the Visitor’s stay. If you supplied an email address at the time of booking, a survey will be emailed to you for your comments after your stay. Alternatively, a comment form may be completed and left at the campsite reception. All complaints made after the Visitor’s departure should be made in writing by post or email to:

There are a good variety of walks from the campsite which range from gentle valley bottom strolls to more challenging hikes onto the moorland of the Kinder Plateau via Crowden Clough and Jacobs Ladder. The village of Edale is 2 miles away and you can walk there through the fields. It has a village shop, cafes and pubs.There is a small grocery store with a cash machine a little further away in Hope. The nearest major supermarket is in Chapel-En-Le-Frith, 8 miles away.
Hathersage has an outdoor swimming pool.
Castleton is about 25 minutes away by car. Bakewell is a 40-minute drive.
