Perfect for walkers, this cosy and simple first-floor escape is in the stunning setting of the Eryri (Snowdonia) mountain range.
On a working farm, set in the wooded foothills of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) with the Watkin Path on the doorstep and spectacular views of farmland and big landscapes beyond, Y Wenallt is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
A simple, converted first-floor apartment above the modern farmhouse at Hafod y Llan, this cosy, comfortable and practical cottage has an open plan living space, and then a double bedroom and a bathroom through the corridor. The elevation of Y Wenallt means it’s great for watching the bats roost at Hen Dy, the original old farmhouse next door. For a break with friends or family, you could book Hen Dy (sleeps eight) or a pitch or two at Hafod Y Llan Campsite, the family-friendly, riverside campsite behind the farm buildings.
With leisurely farm walks all around, Y Wenallt is the perfect base for exploring Eryri (Snowdonia). You’ll find the beautiful village of Beddgelert three miles away with its stunning river, steam railway, shops and restaurants. It’s also a great spot for climbing Moel Hebog and visiting Glaslyn Gorge. Beach lovers can nip to Morfa Bychan near Porthmadog. Or head up Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) itself, via walking, climbing or the train.
As the second largest National Park in Britain, Eryri (Snowdonia) has miles and miles of countryside and coastline to explore, with rivers, lakes, waterfalls, forests, moorlands and glacial valleys all topped with the incredible mountain range itself. Activities on offer go from high adrenaline canyoning or kayaking to more laid back trips to Sygun Victorian Copper Mine. Explore Plas yn Rhiw on Pen Llyn, or seek out red squirrels at Plas Newydd on Anglesey, all less than an hour away.
