A historic manor house with original features from the 15th century.
Stay in a place of historic significance in this 15th-century small Manor. Each room unveils remarkable historic features but the pièce de resistance is the oak hammerbeam ceiling in the Great Hall that dates from 1485. You’ll find other intriguing rooms such as a scullery and a dairy, all carefully restored to retain its special character.
Outside there is a walled patio for al fresco eating and a cobbled courtyard, leading you through an old barn door to the sloping, wild garden. Here you’ll have uninterrupted views of the surrounding hills, and the gate at the top of the garden opens into the orchard with its ancient trees. At the right time of the year, feel free to pick the apples. There’s also a large front garden where you can watch the wildlife and enjoy the views. This is shared with West Challacombe Cottage (sleeps four) making these two cottages perfect for larger families too.
Join the South West Coast Path metres from your door and climb up the steep ascent to Little Hangman or take a more leisurely stroll around Combe Martin, once famous for its silver mines, just a 20 minute walk away. Delve further into the hilly moorlands of the Exmoor National Park with its rugged coastline taking in the lush Heddon Valley and the seaside town of Lynmouth, or head in the opposite direction to the award winning surfing beach at Woolacombe.

To create a haven for wildlife and people, we've planted 20,000 trees and created a wetland in the land around the holiday cottages. Leaving space for species-rich grassland full of wildflowers to spread across the farm, we're creating a much more biodiverse landscape.
Landscape-scale conservation, with its huge benefits for nature and wildlife, is a focus for our West Exmoor ranger team. Find out about 3 of our current projects here.
As well as walking trails from the front door, there's more to discover within driving distance.
