National Trust Publishing creates award-winning, fully illustrated non-fiction books which inspire a love of nature, beauty, and history for all ages. Read more about our publishing partnerships and how to get in touch.

Who we are

We publish more than 30 new books a year, both in-house and in partnership with others, on topics that reflect our values. These include books on gardening, history, collections, nature and the outdoors. Based at our central office in Swindon, our publishing activity is divided into three main strands: guidebooks, trade books and Cultural Heritage Publishing. Our books are available to buy in our shops, on our online shop and in all good bookshops.

Guidebooks

We publish engaging and informative guidebooks to more than 200 of our places in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. All our guidebooks are produced fully in-house and uncover the stories behind the places we care for – with all sales going straight back to the places in our care. Our bestsellers include Beatrix Potter at Hill Top, Giant’s Causeway and Cragside.

If you have a question for the guidebooks team, you can email guidebooks@nationaltrust.org.uk

Trade publishing

We work primarily with two publishers: HarperCollins (for our main titles) and Nosy Crow (for children's publishing). You read about these publishers and our books in our catalogue on their websites.

HarperCollins

HarperCollins is our publishing partner for all our illustrated, adult non-fiction trade books under our imprint, National Trust Books. Together we publish illustrated titles across a range of topics, including cookery, nature, travel, folklore, gardening and biography.

If you have a question about our trade books, you can email nationaltrust@harpercollins.org.uk

Nosy Crow

We publish 10 children’s books a year, working exclusively with the award‑winning, independent children’s publisher Nosy Crow.

Our children's books aim to further engage children and families with nature, wildlife and history. Some of these books include 50 Things to do before you're 11 3/4, Ben Plants a Butterfly Garden and Nature Origami.

For orders for Nosy Crow titles, you can email hello@nosycrow.com, or call +44 (0) 147 654 1080.

Cultural Heritage Publishing

Our Cultural Heritage Publishing team are based at our central office and specialise in research-based books, journals and magazines on the collections and other cultural assets in our care, supported by the Levy Fund.

We publish two illustrated research journals every year, containing expert insights into our places and collections, curatorial content, and the latest conservation news. We've also released several Cultural Heritage Publishing titles including 100 Books from the Libraries of the National Trust and 125 Treasures from the Collections of the National Trust.
