Finding a lasting and meaningful way to remember your loved one is important. Discover how we can help you make the perfect tribute with a donation to the National Trust in memory of someone special.

Donate in memory

Donations in memory of a loved one can bring comfort at a time of loss and help honour someone special by remembering all the happy moments you spent together.

You can make a donation in memory to a specific National Trust place that you enjoyed together, or more generally to our vital conservation work. However you choose to donate, we thank you for sharing your precious memories with us.

In memory collections

Donations in memory are a wonderful way to celebrate your loved one's life and passions.

Your gift will be remembered in one of the memorial books that we hold at the National Trust’s places, where we can record your dedication to your loved one and include your personal message. To keep our places special for everyone we don’t put plaques on buildings or furniture.

Friends and family sometimes like to have the option of giving a donation gift to a charity at a funeral or memorial service. We are very grateful to everyone who remembers their loved one with a gift to the National Trust in this way.

Funeral directors can arrange this for you and send your kind donations to us. Or, if you'd prefer to organise the collection yourself, you may wish to set up a JustGiving page or send a cheque.

Create your JustGiving in memory page

A JustGiving fundraising page is an easy way for family and friends to contribute a personal gift in memory of someone special. Your donation will make a lasting difference to places in our care.

Sending us your memorial collection

When you’re ready to send your memorial collection please send a cheque, made payable to ‘National Trust’, to:

Please don’t send cash in the post.

If you'd like to make a donation to a particular property or project, just let us know in your letter.

We'd like to write back and thank you for this special gift, so please include your address.

In memory dedications at National Trust places

If you'd like to remember a loved one with a physical dedication, such as a bench or tree, at one of the places in our care, please get in touch with the team at the place where you’re hoping to do this. You can find contact details on the homepage of the place you wish to contact.

Unfortunately, the demand for these types of memorials is often higher than our capacity, so please consider dedicating a tree in memory as an online alternative.

Get in touch about your in memory gift

If you’d like to discuss your in memory gift with us, please email us at giving@nationaltrust.org.uk, or call 01793 818569 and leave a message. We’ll contact you as soon as possible.
