The Textile Conservation Studio
The Studio provides a complete conservation service for historic textiles conserving and protecting the National Trust's precious and often unique textile collections.

The upper floor mezzanine can be accessed by stairs only, with handrails on either side. The mezzanine room off this is accessed by two steps with handrails
By road
Off New Road, on Oulton Street, in the hamlet of Oulton Street, follow the signs to Blickling Estate signposted off A140 Norwich/Cromer. With the Hall on your right follow the road heading away from Aylsham along the Blickling road, past the Blickling car park. Follow the road through the woods until you see a brown sign for ‘tudor tours’. Take the road on your left. Continue along here until you see the signpost for Oulton Street. Continue over the crossroads and take the first driveway on your right

About The Textile Conservation Studio
One of the National Trust's in-house conservation treatment facilities, the Textile Conservation Studio was founded in 1976 at Blickling Hall in Norfolk. Since 2002, the Textile Conservation Studio has been based in a specially converted, award-winning building on the Blickling estate.
As well as ensuring that the Trust’s own significant textile collection is properly maintained, we also run the Studio as an enterprise - making our expertise available to external organisations and private clients.
Our team of professionally trained and accredited conservators undertake a range of activities, including estimates, condition surveys, advising on preventive conservation, display, storage, routine care, disaster planning, emergency treatment, studio-based practical conservation treatments and on-site work.
We treat all types of historic textile, with particular expertise offered in the care of textile furnishings, woven tapestry, embroidery, costume and carpets.
The amassed experience of the staff, and the specialist equipment and facilities, make the studio one of only a handful of places in the UK where large, complex projects can be worked on with complete confidence.
